Review of Species (1995) by Bryan W — 13 Mar 2009
This film succeeds as mildly entertaining sci-fi fare, but it could have been so much more. The concept is fantastic and some of the questions raised by the characters are appropriately thought provoking, but these ideas are presented in the most clumsily sophomoric way possible.
It's a shock that this movie attracted such talented actors as Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Forest Whitaker, who manage to rock the material they're given, but the poor CGI and boring climax relegates this to the dustbin of sci-fi history.
