Review of Species (1995) by Gordon C — 13 Dec 2009
It's unfortunate that a movie that stars both Ben Kingsley and Forest Whitaker is so badly written. To give you an idea of the script's ineptitude, Whitaker plays a character with supposed psychic abilities -- yet he seems to only be able to repeat what everyone else should be able to figure out on their own.
For example, near the end of the film, when the alien has reproduced and is in hiding, Whitaker's character finds a dirty baby in an awkward corner of the sewer, only to tell it to "come here" and "everything's gonna be all right," resulting in a vicious "surprise" attack from this would-be baby alien.
It's crap like that which litters the entire movie.
