Review of Species (1995) by Tobias H — 26 Dec 2010
For some reason Species received mixed however mainly negative reviews. Some critics criticized the film's plot and overall lack of intelligence, others were upset because of "erotic fantasies" which were diluted into a diffuse, misdirected bore... Well, I will say that it wasn't great but it wasn't bad movie either! And Natasha Henstridge as Sil managed to outshine stars like Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker and Alfred Molina!
I think that this film was before it's time... and the later sequels prove that: first one in 1998, Species II, which had Henstridge, Madsen, and Helgenberger reprise their roles, second one Species III in 2004 and Species: The Awakening in 2007, which stands as a separate film, not as an official follow-up to the previous three.
Sexy and bold... and that is enough for me at this moment. :-).
