Review of Special 26 (2013) by Amirah B — 17 Mar 2013
I doubt Indian directors know how to depict a wedding (Punjabi no less) without using a song and dance sequence that has no relevance to the plot. Thankfully that's the only one. The romance could have been done away with too.
One particular instance that affects the viewing pleasure and sticks out like a sore thumb is due to the ambitious camerawork being dragged down by crappy visual effects. Oh and an unnecessary flashback that adds little to no new information.
So why the nine out of ten rating, you might ask? Because I haven't had this much fun with a Bollywood movie since I was a kid. The humour is brilliantly deadpan, the acting superb - I couldn't have asked for a better movie from the director of A Wednesday.
