Review of Special (2006) by Zach G — 03 Apr 2009
Though this movie may nudge some as a straight-up comedy, there are some really well-done elements of melancholy and outright depression that hang to the plot of 'special'.
Almost over-the-top visual effects and plot-line really make this movie stand out. some may question "are you serious?" as others may shake their heads "they are serious...".
This may not be a super-hero movie for everyone, but it is a great "dramedy" for most. it touches on the side of superheros that you don't normally think about: the emotional problems that plague humans of all kinds.
The ending did get a little out-of-whack; I still question whether this was all real or not, but maybe that's not really the point.
Aside from the nonconventional ending, michael rapaport delivers what may very be the best role of his career. extraordinary acting on his part. kudos.
