Review of Special (2006) by Jesse O — 29 Mar 2012
Feels like a two hour Anti-Depressant commercial that leaves you more depressed than you could have possibly ever been. Rapaport nails the main character and makes him very interesting. The story is intriguing but they set out to make a depressing movie and they achieved their goals.
The music is repetitive and dreary as anything you have ever heard and the whole movie feels a bit hopeless and grey. It failed to bring out the best in the good ideas the story had to offer and the ending seemed thrown together, like the Director wasn't sure how to end it.
Not interesting or thoughtful enough to make it worth the sad rain cloud it leaves following you for the rest of your day.
