Review of Speaking of Sex (2001) by Ben R — 18 Apr 2013
I really can't stand Jay Mohr as far as I can throw him but everyone else in this was spot on. This wasn't that funny but was alright for a indie direct to video comedy. James Spader did a great scummy perverted therapist, while Lara Flynn Boyle always knows how to play the ultimate bitch in anything she stars in.
Megan Mullally does a very good bitch role herself and wanted more of her in this. Kathleen Robertson is one of those actresses you never remember by name but always remember her graceful beauty that matches her soft spoken voice.
I can never remember what shes been in exactly but she always shines with what shes given. The rest of the cast did a well enough job but kinda felt like the writing was very sub par to what these actors are used to.
It really pains me to watch a movie with brilliant actors and you know if the story and dialog was tweaked a bit, the movie would be perfect. This however is far from perfect but its worth a friday night watch and would probably make a good date movie when you can't decide on what what to watch.
