Review of Spartan (2004) by Craig P — 24 Apr 2005
I normally don't trust these kinds of movies, but they were good for some laughs and as time wasters.
Spartan.
Val Kilmer is the Spartan, and Al Bundy is an important politician. It is really only so so in that it can be confusing. Important politician's daughter abbducted and the plot splits. The problem is mostly the dialouge, which are filled with jargon. Not much action for an action film..
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.
Bill Murray's dead pan potrayal of an aquatic explorer just makes things surreal and ridiculous. Some of the akward scenes comprise most of the comedy. Only for those who like stupid humor, like watered down Monty Python. Either that or get really drunk..
Kung Fu Hustle.
Strange but entertaining. It has action and really stupid humor. One part where the lead character is challenging the townsfolk is great. It's a better movie than Shaolin Soccer, but it is pretty much the same concepts and characters..
