Review of Spartan (2004) by Gary A — 07 Nov 2008
I'm not a fan of U.S. Government conspiracy genres, but this approach on the world of shadow politics dialogue by playwright turned Filmmaker / Director David Mamet was interesting (if a bit implausible) about a hardened Marine who is a respected veteran special ops agent Robert Scott (Val Kilmer) when Scott is recruited to find Laura Newton (Kristen Bell) the Presidents Colege-age-Daughter,he is paired with overzelous rookie partner "Curtis" (Derek Luke) as the story unfolds the straightforward search-and-rescue mission becomes a complex web of deceit, betrayal by the highest levels of the U.S. Government, played by Ed O'Neill (Burch) William H. Macy (Stoddard) I found all the supporting cast to be convincing and there roles well played like Tia Texeda (Sgt. Jacie Black), Alexandra Kerry (Bartender) and Said Taghmacui (Tariq Asani).
Trivia - The part of "Parker" was played by David Mamet's half bother.
