Did I enjoy Sparkle? Yes... Was it as good as it could have been? No not at all. I wasn't expecting it to be like the first movie (which I love) but to me this remake felt like a made for TV movie, especially if you up it up against the likes of Dreamgirls which was phenomenal.
But I will say that Whitney's church performance was the high point for me which made me cry (along with many others in the theatre) and also Mike Epps was great in his role.
