Review of Sparkle (2012) by Zenobia R — 06 Feb 2014

With an interesting story, an okay script full of fine dialogue, a great cast headed by Jordin Sparks as Sparkle, Whitney Houston as Sparkle's mother (in her final film role), Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter as Sparkle's sisters and a special appearance by Cee-Lo Green, perfect directing by Salim Akil and interesting songs, Sparkle tries to be a good movie musical, but ends up being too slow thanks to its pace and flow from being a classic.
