Review of Spanking the Monkey (1994) by Brian D — 07 Jul 2012
This is a film which plays with the theme that "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." It examines a young man's quest for identity as a modern Oedipus who deals with realistic and less-than glorious struggles.
Despite it's more outlandish elements, I found the film easy to connect with. This is a subtle, thoughtful, and complex black comedy.
