Review of Spanglish (2004) by Jenny M — 13 Aug 2009
I vaguely recall seeing this a few years ago and thinking it was passable - better than Adam Sandler's usual stuff but not great. What with my current AS kick I decided to see it again. Wow. This time I REALLY liked it.
It's much more subtle than I remember, with quite interesting characters (and excellent casting). It seems fairly light, and of course it has some very funny moments, but it also has more depth than first meets the eye.
The poignancy of the story surprised me. I think this may be the next addition to my library. =).
