Review of Spanglish (2004) by Brett D — 29 Jul 2012
Great all-around film; an original story with plenty of powerful themes and a great mix of characters, and well acted. Nice to see Sandler in a dramatic role instead of his more usual comedy, and although he gets top billing, this is not his film.
The film belongs to Paz Vega, whose command of it reminds me of Renee Zellweger taking on Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Great work from the kids, too; Shelbie Bruce and Sarah Steele.
