Review of Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983) by David G — 14 Dec 2009
A cheesy but lovable 80's sci-fi romp which sees Han Solo-a-like Peter Strauss, redheaded runt Molly Ringwald and future Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson take on killer mermaids, chubby albino zombies, various Mad Max-esque goons and an almost unrecognisable Michael Ironside (doing a pretty good impression of Dr.
Claw from Inspector Gadget) in order to rescue a trio of scantily clad space babes. Not the best example the genre has to offer but the dodgy special effects, bizarre beasties, cheesy theme tune and banter between Strauss and Ringwald give the film that charming effect that only 80's movies can deliver.
