Review of Spaceballs (1987) by Kyle M — 20 Aug 2014
"Star Wars" gets attacked by the spoof side with the force of usual dumbness.
Some gags were successful to be funny, but the rest of the spoof just couldn't stop itself from being infected by the spreading of failure that'd made most of today spoofs dumb and unfunny. "Spaceballs" marked the checkpoint of that spreading at covering 2/3 of the spoof.
Here's a good question about those who were casted: didn't they'd felt humiliation after starring in a spoof film that'd turned out to be dumb in some or most ways? Well I think Bill Pullman can answer that in a probable affirmative since he's like the biggest star of this film.
"Spaceballs" had its moments of being funny, but couldn't overcome the mentioned spreading. (B-).
