Spaceballs is misguided and subpar; the hackneyed Brooks comedy mostly fails with the exception of a few chuckle-worthy puns. One must be both a Mel Brooks fan and a Star Wars geek to truly enjoy Spaceballs and even then, it's still a comedic black hole.
