Review of Spaceballs (1987) by Blair L — 13 Dec 2010
I bet she gives great helmet.
A spoof on the success of the Star Wars original trilogy.
Though definitely mocking the Star Wars trilogy with its jokes and characters, Spaceballs is also a tribute to the material its mocking. The film is edited with a generous amount of wipes which are found in the Star Wars trilogy; the more one knows about the making of the original Star Wars trilogy the more one can appreciate the humor in this film.
The film is also made well, unlike half the spoofs that are rushed to market after a movie has proven a success in order to capitalize on interest in the material. In short, forget the Family Guy spoofs, Spaceballs is the only Star Wars spoof for me.
