Review of Spaceballs (1987) by Trenton R — 26 Apr 2014
Sometimes I am bored of watching Oscar Nominated Dramas, or "great films", so I sit down and watch movies that are not perfect, but not shitty either.
And this movie, Spaceballs, is exactly that.
Although this movie is kinda underrated( It can be funny) It is not so good.
Simply put, this is one of those movies with "hit or miss" humor. Frankly, at times it can be pretty funny, but otherwise it can be, well simply put, NOT FUNNY.
And although I maintain my belief that this film is underrated (53%?) I do maintain it is not a work of perfection ( FAR FROM IT!).
To be frank, I laughed at certain parts of this film, but not enough to say it is that great of a film. Cause it isn't.
But for all the bad jokes, you get some good ones too. The satire of Star Wars is nice, and the social/ political satire is neat too. And although this movie would have been better if it was not bogged down by some of the lame humor, it is still quite neat. Frankly, this film is kinda misunderstood, but some of the lame humor, dull special effects, and other stuff do kinda let it down.
Final Score for Space-balls: 4/10 Stars.
Despite some of the lame humor, this thing is lifted by the satire and it is a nice relief from other comedic turds (ahem, Groan Ups 2).
However, that does not mean it is good.
