Review of Space Jam (1996) by Canes D — 25 Feb 2015
Michael Jordan teams up with Looney Tunes to beat these aliens that threaten Toon World and get fellow NBA stars of 90s talent back. If you were expecting a intense compelling drama of animated and live action characters interacting, like Who Framed Roger Rabbit then get out of here with that single mindedness.
Its basketball + Looney Tunes = ridiculous but in a good way. It knows its stupid and cherishes being stupid, especially with the players without their powers and of course Bill Murray. The acting was ok, animated characters were great as always while NBA stars were par.
CG effects were kinda weird, but remember this was when CG was relatively new and they needed to match CG effects with real people when they got squished or blown up like a balloon or something, much like Looney Tunes.
So I forgive them, its still crappy though. The parts with lola bunny used as a sex symbol were weird and kinda disturbing but who cares cause we GOT MICHAEL JORDAN. A lot of people hate it for marketing reasonings to cash in on Jordan Brands/sponsers as well as Warmer Brothers.
But despite that its still funny and enjoyable to watch.
