Maybe I wasn't the target audience for this film. Maybe I'm too young to understand the significance of a second chance, even if it defies all logical reasoning and compromises the integrity of government operations.

Or, maybe this movie is too implausible to make it past a one star rating. I'm a sci-fi fan, and the combination of Clint Eastwood and space travel were enough to draw me naively in. The various "old" jokes and leering-old-man references were enough to create a drinking game out of.

Perhaps I am no better than a dangling-preposition perpetrator, but even I know that this film would've been SO MUCH BETTER if the old timers had accepted the facts and gained some kind of self worth by sitting in Mission Control instead of insisting on sheeting their geriatric egos all over the plot of this film.
