Review of Soylent Green (1973) by Will H — 26 Jul 2008
Like many films which are set in the "future" Soylent Green suffers from false expectations. Not because we haven't run out of food, but because the rest of the vision of the future is neither as close to what will likely become reality nor as entancing as other visions (Blade Runner, 2001).
The story is alright, if someone wrote a new screenplay I could see this being remade as a decent thriller-although we already have that here, but clearly there is room for improvement everywhere. Well, everywhere but in one performance, Edward G.
Robinson steals the show whenever he graces the screen.
