I always start sweating when I see this film. It conveys hot and crowded like no other film. Structurally it is similar to Logan's Run--cop on the trail of a crime, has to run for his life and discovers a secret that undoes society.

I like it. Very strong feminist message that resonated for the early seventies. Edward G. Robinson's last film as well. it suffers from the SFX limitations of the time period. This is one of the handful of stories that deserves an update, but it would be so cheesed out with CGI today that it wouldn't be worth it.

Good nostalgia film from Heston's sci-fi period (Planet of the Apes, The Omega Man).
