It's sweet and innocent enough, and I don't really agree with the "why was this even made" sentiment the Obamas appear to have themselves. Tanne set out to romanticize Barack and Michelle Obama's first date and that's just what he did, no more no less.
He doesn't engage further into any politics and takes no sort of side in any affair. It's a cute enough story for those just looking for that very story.
