Review of Southland Tales (2007) by Daniel C — 26 Apr 2010
I think this film deserves more credit than it has gotten. Yes, it is terrible, yes, the dialogue is horrendous- esp. when the key line is "He is a pimp, and pimps don't commit suicide!" The acting is bad, the visuals are okay and the soundtrack is pretty good.
But yes, it is a bad movie. BUT it is a post-modern movie, so... it is perfect in that respect. It's everything post-modernity claims to be! However, others have done better, such as Tarantino. None-the-less, in hindsight, this isn't as terrible as it was- in fact, I like it because it is so terrible, because its suppose to be terrible!
