Review of Southland Tales (2007) by Chris S — 20 Dec 2011
Ultimately a complex film that is best approached in the same way one does a work by Pablo Picasso, Edgar Allen Poe or perhaps, more appropriately; "Malaclypse the Younger". Not a film for James Cameron fans.
It is not so much a "story" as it is poetry or a modern work of philosophy. That isn't to say the film is perfect, if it was perfect the film wouldn't work. Southland Tales is not to be "viewed"; it's to be deciphered.
