Review of Southland Tales (2007) by Axel S — 08 May 2012
Complex, satirical, over the top, dystopian, yes. I am glad Kelly is not afraid of an increasingly dumbing/numbing audience. The Tomatometer ratings are undeserved. He put LA where Gilliam put Orwell with Brazil, one could suggest; there are glitches in the plot - it doesn't give you the bitter pill as Donnie Darko does but it definitely is worth a minor cult status.
