Review of Southbound (2015) by Nell A — 13 Nov 2016
Definitely worth watching if you enjoy horror. The cinematography, style and dialogue are all flawless, and each of the stories very interesting. However I feel like it did miss a punch - the ending somehow suggesting it explains the start, it still leaves a lot of unanswered questions and other than geographically does not really tie the stories together (and yet they are too similar to be completely separate stories).
With anthologies, I feel you either have to neatly tie it all together (where all the stories give one piece to the same puzzle or attribute to the same phenomenon) or they need to be clearly separate stories where there is no mistake you're dealing with something completely different every time.
This simply is neither and kind of leaves you unsatisfied, good as it is.
