Review of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999) by Derrick C — 15 May 2011
For every Martin Luther King Jr., there is a Black Panther. I funny support the message of this movie--that censorship is messed up--even if its methods stung. However, the film didn't quite earn its teeth; I found only a few truly clever moments during most of the film.
However, the entire third act is pretty much perfect--in the way the story wraps up and in its message. The songs are quite fun throughout, and as a musical it works surprisingly well. In the end, it didn't pack enough clever punches to justify the potty-mouthed sophomoric stuff for me, but it did have just enough intelligence to keep me from totally rejecting this crazy film.
