Review of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999) by Matt G — 25 May 2011
Went to the cinema to see this in 1999 on its release. Previously I was a massive South Park fan and loved the first 2 seasons. However after being bitterly disappointed at the film I bailed, and basically, apart from the odd episode, I never really bothered with South Park again.
Yeah I was wrong to do that. The DVD's are £12 at the moment so I got the first couple and the film (which was £3). Banged this on and I was in tears. Its basically a laugh a minute, cleverly put together social satire/ critique, that was quite ahead of its time. I dont think I understood the satire when I first saw it - and I feel ashamed, so very very ashamed.
Anyways to sum up - the characters are lovable, the animation is crappy, and the songs kick ass. If you aint seen it - get it watched. I waited far too long for a 2nd viewing.
