Review of Source Code (2011) by Brandon W — 05 Jun 2015
Duncan Jones's Source Code is a fantastic science fiction film that made Duncan Jones more noticeable as a director. The movie takes a bit of Groundhog's day with the repeating the same day premise, and turned it into something refreshing and somewhat new.
Jake Gyllenhaal is absolutely amazing in it and he brings his A game and heart into this movie. Michelle Monaghan did a great job as a supporting actress along with Vera Farmiga and Jeffery Wright. The script by Ben Ripley is smartly written, very tight, still tries to make it interesting even if it was repeating the same day, and gives out some twist and turns that are effective.
In these types of films, I get worried that there is going to be some embarrassing scenes that's going to be awkward for me to handle, which there is, but Jake Gyllenhaal does it so naturally that I didn't care.
The plot is really good, and the chemistry between the two main characters is great despite it being on a repeated day. Source Code is a very entertaining movie that I actually rewatched this a few times, and still loved it about the same.
