Review of Source Code (2011) by Hector P — 24 Apr 2013
Zowie Bowie, or Duncan Jones, as he prefers to be called, won me over with his excellent "Moon" some years ago. That film referenced "2001 - A space odyssey" and Danny Boyle's "Sunshine" and was a stunning piece of cinema in its own right.
"Source Code" is also clearly the work of a cinephile. Jones references "Groundhog Day", "Quantum Leap" (he even includes a voice cameo from Scott Bakula), and one of my favourite contemporary Japanese films "After life".
And it's brilliant: Moving, pacy, action sci fi thriller. With romance. I enjoyed it very much.
