Review of Source Code (2011) by James W — 16 Jan 2014
I love films that mess with time, expand the narrative into different places across different times or go round in loops mainly because it's fun how the character becomes aware of the situation and they set out to change the past or alter the future.
Source Code muddles with time and the past superbly, every time Captain Colter Stevens enters Sean Fentress' body the viewpoint changes, further events unfold and you begin to see who the enemy is, which leads to exciting story twists, and Source Code is full of them! Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Famiga, Michelle Monaghan and Jeffrey Wright are marvellous, in fact they seem perfectly fitted for the roles.
Source Code would've been just that little bit more dramatic if the bombers bigger bomb went off, a tragic end would be more satisfying as there are not enough devastating endings in films lately, but the happy note it ends on is incredible.
This is a must watch, purely thanks to the four amazing lead roles and the intriguing plot.
