Review of Source Code (2011) by Maciej Z — 24 Sep 2013
Source Code is a smart and exciting science-fiction thriller with a daring vision of time travel. To stop the second wave of a terrorist attack Capt. Colter Stevens is sent back through time with a new technology known as Source Code that allows him to enter an 8 minute window of time before an earlier train bombing in order to discover the identity of the terrorist, but the Code soon becomes an endless loop as Stevens continually relives the same 8 minutes searching for the terrorist.
It's a fascinating and compelling time travel story, and it presents some interesting concepts about identity and reality. The cast is quite impressive and features Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, and Vera Farmiga.
The directing is also especially good, and adds intensity and dimension to the film. A thought-provoking and inspired science-fiction adventure, Source Code is a captivating thriller.
