Review of Source Code (2011) by Seth S — 17 Sep 2012
Hard not to like. Its a very good movie, and it teases your brain. It just leaves you with a great feeling at the end.
The story is of a government experiment called Source Code. Colter Stevens is the guinea pig of Source Code. With the help of the machine, he can transport into the past for 8 minutes. He is transported onto a train that got bombed earlier in the day. He must find the bomber in the 8 minutes he has and tell his superiors, before the bomber can do any more damage.
Jake Gyllenhaal plays Captain Colter Stevens. He plays Colter very well, with a lot of emotion. Michelle Monaghan plays Christina Warren, a woman on the train who Colter starts to fall in love with, but has to watch her die over and over again in the past. I really like Michelle Monaghan, and she is once again great in this movie.
Overall, I give the director, Duncan Jones, all the credit in the world. To mold a 90 minute movie all around the same 8 minutes is impressive. Of course there are some breaks in between every time Colter goes into the Source Code machine, but that feat is still impressive. A really enjoyable movie.
"If you're reading this e-mail, then Source Code works even better than you and Dr. Rutledge imagined." 8/10.
