Review of Sound of My Voice (2011) by Vincent W — 23 Dec 2012
During the first half, something got under my skin. But quoting Peter Bradshaw: "Brit Marling's latest film comes up with another interesting idea - in this case, two film-makers infiltrating a cult - that fizzles out infuriatingly.
" That itchy something, it needed either an answer or to drag me down further. I longed to be submerged in this cult. That attraction is the movies' subject, but unlike the main characters I neither felt compelled to leave (like Lorna) because it got too crazy, neither compelled to stay like Peter and dive deeper.
There was put simply, nothing there. I just lingered on, infuriatingly.
