Review of Sound of My Voice (2011) by Dan H — 29 Dec 2012
A film that leaves you with questions, but this is one of the few times where that doesn't bother me. In the film we follow an amateur investigative duo, lovers Peter and Lorna, who infiltrate a secretive cult with the hopes of finding out the truth about it's beautiful leader.
Naturally, they find themselves in over their heads and must ask themselves the question if their loyalties now lie with the cult or with the truth. The film is full of powerful performances from it's 3 main leads.
Brit Marling, Nicole Vicius, and Christopher Denham are all fantastic in their roles and do a great job at making us believe them and posing a question to the viewers. I like how the film asks us to make a choice at the end, and it gives us enough evidence on both sides of the issue that it is not an easy choice to make.
I really loved this film, and it easily emerges as one of the top films of 2012.
