Review of Sound of My Voice (2011) by Matthew M — 03 Apr 2013
Very Palahniuesque look at a young charismatic cult leader that may or may not be from our not so distant future and her followers. The characters were identifiable and interesting. Peter and Lorna serve as everyman proxies in their investigation, with the types of hang ups and doubts that anyone can relate to on some level.
The film doesn't tie up all of the loose ends, but it doesn't feel incomplete. Instead, I left with a lot to reflect on, which is what I want from this type of movie.
