Like 'Pi', 'Primer', and various other low-fi genre projects, it's hard not to take into account the budgetary slight of hand that gets things like this made when assessing the movie's value, and probably, that leads to over-rating.

If the 'is it/isn't it?' approach to sci-fi doesn't annoy you, there's a lot to both appreciate and enjoy here, and Brit Marling's movie star looks & charisma certainly go a long way towards making the whole affair feel legit.
