Review of Sound of Freedom (2023) by Tristanhemlock — 18 Jul 2023
This movie is a must watch. Simply brilliant through and through.
This movie will touch topics that a lot people prefer not to think about. And although it could go for the easy traumatizing scenes and exploitation of the really tough scenes, it just shows you enough that your imagination can easily fill in the blanks.
Jim Caviezel once again delivers the performance of a lifetime. His character Tim Ballard just feels real to the bone. He's a man clearly devastated by what his job has forced to him see, forced him to ignore, but all things he clearly carries with him.
Bill Camp as Vampiro was the perfect choice to make what Ballard has to do feel real. With the two creating a duo that trying to save one life will have to save many more while trying to not lose theirs.
Overall both the actors and actresses chosen for each particular role fits on it like a glove. Each helping to build the world you're entering but also understand all facets of it. And when the movie ends you know you just saw a piece of a daily reality a lot are happy to ignore as fiction.
The movie doesn't stretches too long and has just the right pace to so you can easily keep up with everything happening. Also it's not a movie you can expect several action scenes, if anything the movie just does what is necessary, no more no less. Preferring to feel real than to feel fake, preferring to not tire the viewer by giving too much of something that wasn't really necessary.
Brilliantly done. This movie is a masterpiece that is worth the money spent to see it.
Also this movie will not disappoint, if anything it will exceed expectations. Truly a lesson on how to make a great movie.
Several directors and producers should be taking notes, seeing nothing had to be exaggerated or lied about. What the movie shows is what could very likely happen in real life.
