Review of Soul Surfer (2011) by Marya A — 09 Nov 2011
"Annasophia Robb (who is one of my fave young actresses today up there with Saoirse Ronan, the Fanning sisters & Chloe Moretz and also gave one of the most risky & mature performances i've seen in a while in little-known 08's Sleepwalking) gives yet another risky & gutsy performance here portryaing as the inspiritional, never-give up attitude & courageous Bethany Hamilton. Never hurts to have veterans Helen Hunt & Dennis Quaid, both give solid performances as usual. Lorraine Nicholson who plays Bethany's real life best briend Alana does well here and Carrie Underwood is surprisingly decent in her first movie debut.
Soul Surfer is an inspiring, well-acted movie of course with it's "hollywood" predictibale ending which I never get bothered. It's a very good movie, sends great message: never give up on anything you love even when you lose something and feel that you don't know what you want to do anymore just get back up, believe, make & appreciate your life.".
