Review of Soul Surfer (2011) by Joshua L — 25 Aug 2011

I thought soul surfer is kind of good family movie that is clearly underrated by critics probaly because the plot which is rather in some point or part of it's drama that just didn't work in this kind of story that it should be made more serious and dramatic but that is not this movie really about and probaly some of the critic and people that already watch the movie may misunderstand about what the movie really is.

Probaly what makes soul surfer being hated because of it's story that is being made more like disney channel tv movie while the theme and the adaptation of the true inspiring story of bethany hamilton that deserve more dramatic perspective on how it should be made but soul surfer is the other side of the story that bravely told by the filmmaker sean mcnamara which is a story of compassion as well as motivation about our life no matter what our live might turn out to be and it is about the love of a family that kept us living with a joy and happiness.

And what makes this movie even better it is because we are barely see this kind of simple yet effective story about inspiration and gratitude so in this time of superhero movie and the remakes of the 80's and the 90's this movie came of how family movie should be and has to be made because of the massage that the movie try to tell us about hope that is given to all of us and only throught to hope we can get through anything even things that sometimes seem imposible to reach.

The story involve the life changing and insipiring journey of Bethany Hamilton (Anna Sophia Rob) who is a really talented young surfer that always dreamed of becoming a pro surfer but everything change when she got attacked by a shark that has cost her right arms and since then bethany has to live only with her left arm and although the condition of her did not really effected her everyday lives but in the water she is no longer as agile and energetic of how she was before she lost her right arm but her family didn't give up on her espcially her dad (Dennis quaid) that still encourages her to surf and realize her one and only dream of becoming a surfer while bethany still down on her limited mobility that she has as a surfer but in the journey she will finds a hope that will change her life forever.

As for the acting anna sophia rob potrayed bethany hamilton pretty decent and for the other cast nothing really comes out of them except kevin sorbo played as a dad in this kind of movie which is a little bit weird to look sometimes.

Overall Soul surfer is a good family movie thanks to the true story and a decent peformance from anna sophia robb but stil the movies seems diserve more acknoledgement from critics that is why this movie could be this year most underrated movie.
