Review of Soul Men (2008) by Matt D — 18 May 2009
The lighter version of 'Blues Brothers'. Includes: get back together story of old musicians for a funeral, road trip, being fugitive, chasing by bad and stupid guys, great musicians, a performance at a cowboy bar and great music. Lacks: the spirit, which is the reason for grade deduction.
Some jokes are really crude and some are hilarious. Probably Bernie Mac's best performance on the big screen, very unfortunate and unexpected pass away for him and for his fans. Samuel Jackson is fine as usual. Sharon Leal's vocal performance is also satisfying together with Mac and Jackson.
Easy and fun watch.
