The trailers for this do good to bury the topic of interest. There's a whole sub-plot that you don't even expect. But the underlying theme is a guy in a community lacking opportunity (Oakland) who asks The Big Questions and wants to make a real difference.

And he does so in a way he and you don't expect. It's not great but it's decent enough.
