Review of Sorry to Bother You (2018) by Andrew V — 15 Oct 2018
A phenomenal film set in a parallel universe that's only slightly more bizarre than our own. It tasks the audience to question morality in a society full of systems that are immoral. Full of wit, dark humor, and overt symbolism. This movie has a plot that quickly drags you down a rabbit hole, but it's the message that makes this film so thought provoking. The third act and the big twist will repulse anyone that just wanted a popcorn comedy. After the credits roll and you ask your self what the fuck did I just watch, sit on it. This movie asks a lot of it's viewers, so sit on it, think about it message, it's themes, and it's characters--and disagree your heart out.
I did. I disagreed with a lot the film argued for. But I loved it. It's a film that taps into the zeitgeist, and attempts to tackle problems larger than it can possibly handle in a charming revolutionary way.
