I'm kind of suprised to see some of the overly negative reviews here. Then again, people are so accostomed to mindless generic superhero movies that something truly different and relevant might come as too much of a shock. This is a genuine breath of fresh air and hearkens back to the independent movies of the 90s that don't get made any more.

This should speak to anyone who has struggled with low paying, thankless jobs, which is most of us. It's outrageous at times, but not as far fetched as you might think. It's not 100% successful, but it hits most of the notes better than any movie I have seen recently. Don't watch the previews, just go see it with an open mind. Leave your political blinders outside the theater and be open to something new. Boots Riley is a talent to be reckoned with and I'm excited to see what he comes up with next.
