Review of Sorry to Bother You (2018) by Adam G — 14 Jul 2018
This is a great reimagining of "Oh, Lucky Man"; a classic 1973 surrealistic British film starring Malcolm McDowell & Helen Mirren. "Sorry to Bother You" has borrowed core elements (surrealistic capitalism - Ecco Man v Pig Man) from the original, tightened up the script through the lens of the disenfranchised while interpreting the white voice as the voice of truth.
Oakland is a befitting backdrop as it was a bastion for black power that is now being consumed by middle class gentrification. Check out both films. Really enjoyable in their own quirky way.
