Review of Sorority Row (2009) by Katchoo _ — 20 Jun 2010

Sorority Row is a remake of an average 80's slasher and not surprisingly it turned out as a distinctly average slasher. It's in no way original, has all the usual clichés but still manages to entertain.

The plot revolves around a group of girls from the one sorority house who play a trick one of their male friends which goes horribly wrong and results in the death of one of the girls. Cut forward 8 months and it's the last day of college and the girls are throwing a party but of course someone out there knows there little secret and starts to kill the girls one by one. It's well made and has decent acting from the far too good looking teen cast but suffers hugely from predictability. The who dunnit plot doesn?t work as it's painfully obvious from the start who the killer is. There is far too much filler at the start with the teens doing the usual drinking and sex and too many of characters make who want to become a murderer yourself to kill them off as soon as possible. Once the killer shows up it turns into a good film very similar in tone to Scream. It isn't too gory and is in no way scary but manages to entertain in the way only a slasher can.

Typical slasher film that's a little predictable but still an entertaining watch.
