Review of Sorority Row (2009) by Corey B — 12 Jul 2010
Sorority Row isn't a great film, but it's much better than the recent crop of slasher flicks have been. For one thing, it knows it's ridiculous, and has a pretty fun sense of humour about itself. For another, the characters are all a tad better than your usual slasher film fodder. Leah Pipes in particular takes a stereotypical character (the cold hearted sorority leader) and finds just the right comedic slant to make her performance hilarious.
Comparing Sorority Row to Heathers is giving it too much credit, but there's a satirical viciousness in both that at least makes them distant cousins.
And besides, it's got shotgun wielding Carrie Fisher. That's gold in my books.
