Review of Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) by Maree T — 04 Nov 2006
I went to see this for an informal fieldtrip for my German class. It was very good. I was impressed. This is a strong political drama taking place in Nazi Germany nearing the end of World War II and based on a true story.
I didn't know what to expect, but I was very impressed. It was so well done! This is a top-quality movie. Excellently shot, great lighting, great music, perfectly acted. It is, however, in German, but even with subtitles remains outstanding.
Julia Jentsch was absolutely amazing along with all the others. I believe this movie is comparable to another great true-story-based WWII movie, Schindler's List. I hope this movie, and the stars, receive the recognition they deserve.
